The Janacek Chamber Orchestra is among the leading ensemble of its type in the Czech Republic, and has drawn the highest international acclaim. Founded in 1964, the orchestra comprises 12 leading string musicians from the Janacek Philharmonic Orchestra, led by violinist Zdenek Dejmek. In addition to standard repertoire from the Baroque, Classical, and Romantic eras, the orchestra has championed many contemporary Czech competitions.
Many Czech and foreign authors are grateful to the Janacek Chamber Orchestra for their perfect premiere preparation and performance of their works on significant concert podiums of the whole world.
The Janacek chamber Orchestra has toured extensively throughout Europe, North America, Mexico, and Japan and has been invited to appear at important festivals such as Toledo, Bornholm. Munich, Prague, Florence, Turku, and Flanders.
Besides, they have recorded many works of various genre such as Vivaldi¡¯s Four Seasons, Carulli¡¯s Concert for Guitar on the Supraphon, RCA, Panton, and Riccordi labels, and have made numerous appearances on international radio and television.
