Plovdiv Philharmonic Orchestra is a non profit organization which was created by the musicians in 2002. This organization is represented by Emilia Drieva and Maestro Plamen Parvanov is Musical director.
In the 17.June 2002 in Plovdiv we invited the Istanbul Orchestra to make a concert in Plovdiv. On the 23.08.2002 in Ioannina, Greece in collaboration with "Tsakalof Opera" we have performed "The Swan Lake" by Tchaikovsky with great success.
From 29.03.2003-08.04.2003 we make a big tour in Spain with five philharmonic concerts in Madrid, Toledo, Orense and Pontevedra.
On the 19.May 2003 in Ioannina Greece we make a big philharmonic concert.
The orchestra have worked successfully with all opera theatres and symphonic orchestras in Bulgaria, whose repertoires in the operatic, musical comedy and ballet genres have been presented in Bulgaria and abroad.
Besides, it has worked with young musicians newly graduated from Musical school and Musical Academy and have helped them in their career. It has also organized education courses for young talented musicians and conductors.
This distinguished orchestra has been giving many opera and philharmonic concert in Plovdiv and big cities in Bulgaria every season.
The repertoire of the orchestra includes works from all genres and epoch-baroque, classic and contemporary music; works by Puccini, Verdi, Donizetti, Rossini, Mozart, Rachmaninoff, Carl Orff, Ravel, Stravinsky, Saint-Saens, Mascagni, Gershwin and many others. The operas such as "Aida", "Carmina Burana", Nabucco", "Il Trovatore", "Tosca", "Ernani", "Don Carlos". "Rigoletto", "Bohemi", "Traviata", "Prince Igor", "Peter the First", "Othello" and many other opera works are in its repertoires.
Guest soloists of the Orchestra were Kaludi kaludov, Nikola Guzelev, Raina Kabaivnska, Ghena Dimitrova, Knott and also many distinguished instrumentalists, Mincho Minchev(violin), Mila Georgieva(violin), Erik Heidzik(piano,France), Mario
Hosen(violin, Austria) and many, many other.
For the last years the Plovdiv Philharmonic Orchestra has been on many tours in many countries-Germany, Spain, Denmark, Rusha, France, Sweden, Norway , Malta, Belgium, Italy, The Nether-lands, Portugal, Greece.

He graduated the State Musical Academy-Sofia-orchestra and choir conducting.
His career as a conducting began almost thirty years ago.
At beginning of his career he took prizes from conducting competitions; in 1980,
the first prize in the conducting competition for young musicians in Sofia, and
in 1981, third prize in the Puldin Summer Festival in Plovdiv.
And then he had a special concert in the Bolshoi Theatre with the Moscow Philharmnony
in Moscow in 1984.
He was a conductor of Pleven Opera and Philharmony. He also has been a conductor
of Plovdiv Opera and Philharmony and Plovdiv Chamber Orchestra for many years.
Besides, he is a professor in the State Musical Academy in Sofia and National
College of music in Plovdiv.
Now he is a Musical Director of Plovdiv Opera and Philharmonic Orchestra. He
is a Musical Director of Simphonieta "D. Petkov" in Plovdiv.
He has had many concerts and opera performances all over the Europe and Russia. |
